I was scanning the net for a pair of used D60 axles when I stumbled across this salvage. It's a `97 3/4-ton with a v10 and only 50k miles for $6,000 (I was planning on spending about 2K for just the axles). I saw the first picture and figured ... man, that'll just buff right out. Then I saw the second shot and thought ... well, maybe not.

Then I started thinking. People swap out stuff all the time ... convert from 318 to 360 ... talk about going from Magnum to Hemi ... hanging 3rd gen on 2nd gen ... etc. So why couldn't I swap my 1/2-ton body and bed (which are in fine shape) onto the 3/4-ton frame? Does anyone know of a reason why it wouldn't work?

Ferget it ... I checked blue book on the thing and the $6k they're asking is what a truck in "fair" condition would draw and this thing's a salvage ... rates a "poor".

 

yea.. if you could get it for 2K then id say go for it..

only thing is .. you GOTTA make sure that frame is straight after a wreck like that.. and its pretty trashed.. but i would bet the frame is ok... just something you really gotta watch out for

it would be awesome. your body on that frame .. WITH that v10!!!!!!! mmmmmmmmmmmm gooooood!!!!

i got a 95 V10 here for sale for 4K and if i had the extra money id buy it and rebuild it into one KILLER offroad machine.. or take the motor and put it in my ram.. hehehe that would kick ***.. the only thing is that the aftermarket is limited for the 10's .. but hell.. you shouldnt need much!!!!
