There's been a couple of topics about rough idle and suging with the Ram 5.9 here....for those confused or wondering where the IAC, TPS and Idle Motor is on your throttle body, this pic should show you what you DON'T want to see.
The IAC ( Idle air control passage is at the top left) This one is nearly plugged with carbon buildup. It's the cause of most Idling problems, next to the TPS (Throttle position sensor) It's on the bottom left. Thats what usually causes surging while idling or running down the road. Don't drop th throttle body...sharp jolts tend to mess up the idle motor at bottom right.
Fortunatly, two cans of brakleen removed the deposits and and restored performance. We rplaced the plenum plate with a Hughes unit too.
