CD player install
I know i am asking alot of questions about my Ram, but my life has been filled with Chevys up to this point....i have a Pioneer cd player in my Avenger that i want to put in my Ram....i have given the dash on the Ram a little look over but it isn't exactly clear what all has to be taken off to get the stock cd player out and put the other one in. Any one have any idea how the dash comes off?
In the SEC. GEN RAM INFORMATION thread up top is a link to an '01 service manual if you haven't found it yet.

In my '98 it is just clipped on and just requires some force to pull it off. I think there might be a screw in the upper right corner near the power outlet if you have one there.
Take a good look before you just yank on it though. That's all mine took. It kinda scares you because you swear your going to break it. hopefully somone with a little newer model can chime in if there's been any changes to how it mounts.
Good luck.
Forgot. Just to be safe it's a good idea to disconnect your battery so you don't accidentally set off your airbag. Rare but can happen.

I just replaced the factory cassette/radio in my 01 Ram 4X4 and it was the easiest thing I ever did. I bought the wiring adapter and replacement radio bezel at Wal-mart. They have a brand called SCOSCHE ( WWW.SCOSCHE.COM ) that is unbelievably easy. The instructions were very easy. I was actually able to wire my new stereo right into the wiring adapter with soldered connections and then just plug it in. Worked perfect the first time.
Like 20dodgeram01 states, the dashboard bezel just pops off. I found the easiest place to start pulling mine off is about 6 inches to the right of the steering column at the bottom. Then I work my way counterclockwise until it is loose. I usually turn my key on and move my gear shift to low to make it easier for removal. The factory stereo is just as easy to remove.
Good Luck

just installed a pioneer in my ram...i love it!
just to let you know, you might have amps built into your front speakers, like i had. when i wired up the head unit (didnt use a harness, if you do probably wont have a problem), the front speakers didnt work. so i took them out of the door, cut all the amp wires and rewired it so the wires went directly to the speaker

I do have the ashtray open and it is the camouflage back cover for the cell phone in the photo. The cell phone doesn't fit the holder when I have the camo cover on it.
