Default Leaky gaz tank

I own a Ram 96, 5.2l, 4x4 . I filled up my gaz tank on Saturday and noticed a gaz smell on Sunday. Sure enough I had a gaz leak. Yesterday( Monday) I drained all the gaz from the tank, 3 hours later I had ~17gals out and the truck on empty. Funny thing is that everybody tells me this is a 26 gallons tank, what happen to the 10 gallons? .
Drove the truck on an empty tank of gaz to the garage, removed the tank. Now, as most of you know the gaz tank is mounted parallel to the frame under the box on the driver side. If you stand behind the truck and look at the cab, the upper right corner of the gaz tank looked deformed as if it had melted down causing a cavity, this tank is original from factory. Would Dodge install a deformed gaz tank???
So because of the cavity in the tank rocks lodged themself in there and pierced a hole through it.

That's my story and sticking to it.

seriously could probably use jb weld, supposed to be impervious to fuel. but they also make a specific epoxy designed for gas tanks. could try that.

on an unrelated note, how did you manage to spell everything else correctly and maintain decent grammer, but could not spell gas?? i hope you were joking...

hol-e crap radwebster you WASHED your truck. it actually looks perty good with that sporty stance. CLEAN WOW. just picking with ya rad. does look good though

yea i can see where ya get gazzzz. sometimes i drag on the s sound to make it sound like a zzzzzzz.

But anywho. jb weld will work if it is not to big. i would apply a smooth coat with no excess then what for it to dry and do it again. that way it is definatly filled. just a thought though

Hey! Glad to see some of you know how to spell ( On my expense ) . That's OK I can take it

Gaz = Gazoline , Excuse my French.

Thanks for the input. Too late, it is being replaced at the shop. The mechanic showed me the tank yesterday and it looked like the tank had been forced forward into the cross-member but it didn't good through. They are small holes so I'll keep the old tank and fix it like you said with JB in case I puncture this new on.

BTW, this is a great forum. I found a lot of good tips for my truck. Thanks.
