98 Dodge Ram 1500 quadcab 4x4

Noticed this hose hanging off the rear axle ( 9.25" )

it's the large one coming off the top


not sure where it runs too but i'm guessing it goes to where i tied it off.



looking in the Haynes repair manual it says something about a vent fitting but doesn't say what it does, where it goes, if something attaches to the end of it, nothing. Can anyone please help me out here.

 

Breater hose, suppose to be there. Lets air into the diff

 

so i can just stick it back in the clip thats right there and i should be good to go?
