Used gears - What do you think
Found this set of front and rear used gears for my 2001 Ram 4X4. The truck is my daily driver and is used to pull my 7800 lb fifth wheel camper. Let me know what you think. I currently have 3.55's in my truck.
Nice used front set 3.92 125.00 exchange; call for new price on front.
Rear set used 3.92 135 exchange; call for new price on rear set.
Thanks.

How many miles are on the gears?
What was the truck they were in used for? Towing? Wheeling? Just driving around?
All important things to find out before a good decision on this can be made.

i guess it depends if he plans on getting bigger tires or not.. im sure if has a 5th wheel he probally does alot of highway travel.. just the 3.92's will give you some more pulling power.. but less mileage on the highway.. 4.10's might over due it
Over 95% of my driving is highway miles so I am just looking for something that will give me a little more pulling power. About 30% of the highway miles include pulling the fifth wheel. Also, I am staying with the stock size tires.
Here is some updated information on the gears:
Front Used are factory; app 30,000 miles, came out of a ratio-changeover. - $125 exchange
And rear is new only – sorry for the misquote. new only – 195 exchange.
Thanks for the input from everybody. Never changed gears before so when I do this I want to do it right.

Never had any luck with used gears. Bugger to setup. Either way make sure to change the bearings, and rember the additive if its a lsd.

Thanks everyone for the info. Think I'll hold off until I can swing a complete set of new gears to swap out. The camping season is almost over for this year, so I've got till early April before I would have to get this done.
