man that would be super nice for 4X4's when i had my bearings off last time i didnt noticed the snap ring so i guess our 4X4s are out of luck

ive heard timkin bearings are really good brand.. so maybe you can just get the bearings and have them press in to the hub.. that would kick ***..

I don't want to cause anymore confusion, but the wheel bearings on my truck aren't sealed. I don't know how far he investigated what he has though, I just thought I would add that.

Edit: I am an idiot lol. I just realized that his is an 01. Anyway though, is that weird for my truck to not have sealed bearings. It is a 2WD.

i went through a local wrecking yard and had them locate me a hub. After the stealership said $145 and three parst stores said the hub bearing assembly was not available yet.the wrecking yard charged me $45. 10,000 miles later with out a head ache and still no problems, "he says as he knocks on wood".

oh yea i did buy a new locking nut from the stealership for.......$10 ...i think

4x4s are definitely a different style, and are not serviceable...at least not as easily. There are some CTD 4x4 owners that have had new bearings put it, but it's probably better to just go with a new hub.

Timkens also makes a full replacement hub for the 4x4s

2wd and 4wd might have the same hub assembly, thus why they don't list any for 2wd only. I know on XJ's the 2wd and 4wd use the same exact hub.

they wont be the same.. since the center of the hub for 4X4's will be splined to accept the outer shafts... and the center of the 2X4's will be smoothed to slide over the splindle post.

Ok, I'm taking the time this weekend to take my wheel off... I've asked around at the parts houses and I might be able to have a new bearing pressed in, so I'm going to look at that.

If not, then it'll be a new assembly. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
