Default AAAaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!

i've determined that my transmission isnt shifting into overdrive i havent done a search but i was hoping someone could help. Also my check engine light came on so i plugged into a code reader- told me 4th and 5th cylinders were misfiring so i gave it a tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor...) light went off for a couple of days but came back on and engine is running rough again. does anyone have wisdome in either of these areas they can share? I just bought this truck and I dont want to dump mod money into restoration! Aaarrgghh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it's not shifting into od, it could be a problem with a solenoid. Of it could be that your transmission is shot.

The misfiring could be a lot of things. Could be the throttle position sensor..could be the crankshaft position sensor...could be a problem with a ground...could be a the computer.

What YEAR is the truck? What motor? 2wd or 4wd? Important info to remember when posting a problem

I took the tb off and gave it a good cleaning along with the sensors. reset the comp and fired her up. the rpms shot from about 650 to 1100. Definate difference. I then used the low idle adj. screw to get her back down to about 780 as recomended by chilton for auto trans. Check engine light off for now. I'm appreciative for this site and thank everyone for any advice.

my manual says that only the 97 and 98 (or maybe its the 98 and 99)have it. It adjusts low idle, opens the butterflys up to about 1/4 inch or so. Any way its an adjustment screw on the left side of the tb right were all the cables com together.
