yea...i f*&ked up...was testing out some 19" electrics fans i got at the swap meet (which are going in the truck at a later time), closed the hood but didnt latch it down, then went to a parts store to get somethin for the truck in my other car. came back, went to take the truck to my friends house to fix the steering box of mine that was pissing out power steering fluid, and WHACK, windshield's done. its a very sickly sight to see your hood bent all the way, right up against your windshield. hoods dented a little too, but what are ya gonna do.

How did you manage to miss both the primary and secondary latches?

 

i just had the hood set down, then i went to get something for the truck in my probe, and when i came back i totally forgot about it. oh well. my fault, my money. [:'(]

 

been there man, I see why there was a recall on the secondary latch. I just wish I new sooner. It wasn't to bad, I was going pretty slow, Luckily it didn't go al the way to the windsheild, just a couple streched hinges. It is always a big process now when I close the hood, checking to make sure its latched all the way.

Did the same exact thing in my 75 Ford F100 about 25 years ago. Going about 30 and WHAM! took a second to figure out what happened. Got pulled over OK to check out the damage. Guess they built them better in those days because I didn't even bend the hood hinges. It stayed aligned and closed and opened like normal. Like DieselDemon said, "Glad you're OK"

 

we all have something like this to haunt us. Mine was doing an oil change on my s-10. Got as far as draining it, changing the filter and replacing the plug. Got into an altercation with a neighbor ..... and forgot to fill the oil. Found out a bit later and a bit farther from home.
