Default trouble starting

im getting a code 0443 purge control valve circuit malfuntion. Apparently i have to go to a dealer to replace it. Will that malfunction cause my truck to have trouble starting? It's completely random. whether the truck is hot or cold, if i just ran it or it's been sitting. its not having trouble turning over... it just doesnt start for a few seconds.

also.. for the 5.9 with a few bolt ons etc... I think i should have a little bit more torque. When i punch the gas from a stand still, my tires wont spin, unless i use the brakes or the roads are wet. Any suggestions?

Ditch the throttle body spacer and jet chip, as suggested in the other thread you started.

Also, the fact that your truck is a 4x4 takes away from some of the off the line power.

What gear ratio are your axles? What size tires do you have?

I'll replace the chip and junk the tb spacer but i dont think that has anything to do with the starting problem... thats recent. my ratio is 3.55 and my tires are 265/75/r16

Didn't say those had anything to do with your starting problem. Your second question was about torque I just noticed now that you have dual exhaust. Is it 3" exhaust?

As for your code, it more than likely is causing an issue with starting.

This TSB may apply to your truck, depending on the build date: http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1998/18-35-98.htm

The guy that did my exhuast said that i should go with 2.5 in as apposed to 3 in because I'd lose low end.

is that dual 2.5 pipes? or singal 2.5 inch.. 2.25 is "saposed" to be the best to keep low end tq and still move exhaust efficiently.. but then again .25 inch wouldnt be that big of a difference .. would it?

my headers go into one high flow magnaflow cat then to dual 2.5

I junked the jet chip and spacer. After taking off the jet, will it take my pcm a little while to adjust to the truck w/out the chip.
Replaced the purge solenoid, so far seems to be starting better.
took off my TB and cleaned it all out.

Still think its a little sluggish
