Default HID

I just ordered a HID kit from XenonKing for my truck! Now that i'm here in Colorado Springs i've been driving a lot of the forestry roads at night and my Silverstars w/20 fog lights aren't the greatest. I'll be sure and post some pics! I ordered the 5000k HI/LO kit

nice!! how much!?!? HID is the number 1 best lighting mod you can do to any vehicle.. the sport headlight conversion is the second best and most common to do to the 2gen ram

It's important to remember that HIDs aren't street legal in most states unless they're factory original (like the Vipers have). Just an FYI.

I realize that it may not be legal, but neither is my exhaust. In my opinion, especially in the mountains, it is crazy that they are not legal. 300% better lighting and were not supposed to jump all over it? There are new cars (like the new chevy trucks) that have lights that are bright as hell and seem to be shining right in you eyes.......let's leave this for another post..
I paid $450 I think from XENONKING.COM which is the same place I bought the kit for my '06 GSXR. The kit is a deal beam so as far as the tech from XenonKing said, it should hook up directly to the stock harness. (the last one I ordered for about $160 that was low beam only had an oval 2 prong plug from the ballast)[:@]
I should be getting the kit this morning so I will do some before and after photos. I have the stock lights (just replaced both assemblies on ebay last year with clear euro corners) *I have another set of those if anybody in the springs is interested* Until then...

Reason isn't to stop people from having better lights. Reason is replacement HID bulbs don't necessarily produce light at the same point as the original halogen bulb. That can cause a real mess with the reflectors and cause the low beam to shine up into oncoming traffic - and aiming can't solve this problem.

Here's a request. When you get yours and before you install, go out at night and park about 20 feet from a wall to look at the light pattern. If possible, use tape to mark the low beam cut-off level. After installing, do the same with the HID conversion. There's a decent chance that all will be fine and that would be great and I would want to know about that. Similar conversions on my BMW K12RS do OK and don't scatter light up - but some conversions are not so good.

Me, I would rather not increase the possibility of somebody running head on into me cause I blinded them and didn't even realize I was doing it. But, if I am gonna get hit like that, better in the RAM 1500 than my K12RS - buddy on a CBR600RR did that into a Lexus SUV, both going about 50. He not only survived, but can walk again in just 4 months. Right arm isn't too good and walking is unsteady, but he was lucky.

I had a set of HID's in my Sport ram a few months back. They were a 6000k kit that my friend had in his car, and i wanted to try it out. It was only a single beam light though. First of all, with the sport headlights, it worked very well. They had a rather sharp line on the garage door that was able to be aimed right so they werent to high. They were bright when you werei n front of the truck, but not horribly. My only issues with them was that they would turn off when you switched to high beams, which is why i want to find a pair of the dual beam. My second issue which i didn't quite understand, was when i turned on the fog lights, the high beam indicator would be slightly on, and at times the high beam bulb (the sport headlights have dual bulbs) would come on as well. I'm guessing it had somthing to do with the one bulb having 3 wires, and only using 2 with the hid's. Do you have the sport headlights in your truck? If you do, please post how it works out. Thank and hope they work out well!

Alright folks, the HID kit is in! It is freakin' awesome! You feel like a fool for paying that much but WOW! The light is heavily concentrated and bright as hell! XenonKing was out of the 5000k HI/LO kit so they shipped the 4300k HI/LO. Even better! The lights work awesome! Low beam is super bright down low and Hi beam will light up the road a mile ahead of you! I got flashed quite a few times because of the scattered beam pattern due to the stock headlight housings. I pointed the lights down some, but you still get some glare that usually isn't noticable with halogen, but is 3x brighter with HID. I'll post some pics that really show how good it looks by this weekend. I've included a before pic with my cheap *** fog lights on when it snowed up in Woodland Park on Rampart Ridge
