RE: Service Manuals on eBay- ENDING SOON!
Honestly, I just go to the car wash and spray it with the engine degreaser they have (which looks and smells just like Simple Green). Let that set for a few minutes while I spray my tires and undercarriage, then wash it off with hot water. When I get home, I use a rag to wipe down any surface I can reach easily. I don't really put very much work into it. Sometimes I put engine degreaser on the rag as I wipe. I have this stuff called Purple somthing. It is non flammable engine degreaser, and really shines stuff up nice while cutting through the dirt and grim. I think the trick is that I have never let it get too dirty for very long. I wash the truck about once every 2 weeks, and the engine compartment gets done every time, so even if it gets filthy from mud or dust, it seems to clean off easy since it doesn't set for very long.
From another forum, I am trying a suggestion to use WD40 or some other type of oil based spray to coat your undercarrage, axles, suspension, etc... Apparently, once you coat everything with that, then no matter how dirty you get it underneath, it washes off very easily. Instead of using WD40, I am using the tire shine stuff since it is not flammable like WD40. So far, it seems to be working like people said it would. The underside looks like new, and road water and mud doesn't seem to stick at all. I'm wating to see how long it lasts. I doubt very long, but it's kind neat having a 7 year old truck that looks like new underneath.
