Default Changing torque converter, higher stall RPM

Anyone here installed a high stall torque converter (i.e. higher RPM stall) on a daily driver/non-race application?

My 2200 stall torque converter came in from PATC.com today. I am still waiting on my tranny. Hopefully it will be here by the end of this week. I will let you know how it does when I get it.

Ya, let me know. 2200 is about what I was thinking, but wonder what that would be like for a daily driver, and how hard it would hit mpg.

I have the ATS 5 Star tc. I notice that on my work order, the tech wrote (300 rpms lower) I'm assuming it has somthing to do with stall speed. I have to be honest, I get confused with this part of it. All I know is I have a 95' CTD, with the 47RH case, but I also have ATS stage 4 parts. Now when I put it in drive, it takes a little more brake to hold her back. This tc is WILD!

I can be on a steep hill, and let my foot off the pedal and she will creep forward. I am glad that I redid my brakes because this converter is so slick. My tranny temps have never climbed above 190. Even on a hot day with a medium load, in second gear.

Just ramblin, no ryhme no reason.

Ok, Adios.

Few years ago I had a 2500 stall put in with a tranny rebuild. It is a stocker that has been reworked. With rt+10 cam the stall increased to about 2750max. Not the best as far as et reductions at the track but it was very street friendly. Letting off brakes it would pull like a stock tc and roll. Holding the brakes it could go as high as 2750rpms before tires would start to break loose. Hot days it would squack 2nd gear. MPG possibly increased with less slippage though the way I drive its too hard to track mpg.

New stall I have is a 10" Viper that probably wont be any where near as friendly on the street but much better out of the hole at the strip.

For the street 2500-2800 would be my choice.

Just a matter of removing the t-case and tranny. There really isnt a whole lot to pulling the tranny. I pulled mine by myself in under 5 hours just taking my time and I know I spent over a hour on just trying to get the damn exhaust bolts out. THey were stuck.

for a 4X4 youd have to drop both drive shafts and i think you have to physically take out the tranny.. no sliding it back like you can with some 2WD drive trucks.. im curious to see if you can unbolt the tranny from the cross member and slide it back far enough to remove and replace a tq converter.. also.. dont forget..you have to manually fill the tq converter before you install it.. so it might be better to remove the tranny to do it..
