Does anyone know what the offset is on a stock 99 1500 muffler?When I look at it - it could be center / offset or both offset...any help is appreciated as I want to purchase a Flowmaster 40 model.

Chances are you will be hard pressed to find a flowmaster that will fit in place of the stock one because all the flowmasters I have seen are quite a bit shorter than a stock muffler. I wouldn't worry about the offset too much because you will have to fabricate some tubing to make it all work anyway.

Just cut the original off. off set won't matter. Add a flowmaster and add 18 inches of pipe after the flowmaster and call it good. Flowmasters perform at optimum levels with at least an 18 inch tail pipe. I have true duals on mine and I turned them up on their sides, then tack welded them together.

yes the stock muffler is center in offset out. what kind of set up you looking to run with it, you want dual pipes out the back, out the side, just dumped under the bed. or do you want the single in single out? like said above the flowmaster is shorter then the stock muffler so if you want to use it with the stock tail pipe, your gunna have to get another short section of pipe.

I am going with a single pipe out and already cut the old (origional) pipe off - it really looked offset so I wanted to be sure what muffler to get - I played with a filler pipe and its appears to be at quite a angle and really want to tuck it in as close as possible.. Thanks for all the replys (i.e. center in / offset out etc).

I ran it today w/o the muffler and boy did it sound good. I hope the Super 40 isnt too too quiet! ... does anyone know if there is much differance between the Flowmaster 40 and Super 40?...

I have dual 40 series flowmasters and it sounds like a pro street chevelle at wide open throttle. I love it. I think the super 40's are a hair louder than the original 40's.

the super 40 is the same as the standard 40 exept it has more baffles in it to give it a "Deeper" tone, not louder so it sits right between the standard 40 series and the 40 delta flow. I think is the best sounding muffler they have.
