Default U joint troubles

Hello new here and looking for some help. I have a 2001 Ram 4x4. I have been trying to grease the front U-joints and am not having any luck. I bought the needle I was told to use and when I insert it into the joint I either bend it or completely break it off. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong or is there an easier way to go about this task? Any help what so ever would be greatly appriciated.

hello again. No they aren't stock I just had them replaced and they told me to grease them. There is a hole into wich I am supposed to insert this needle. Every time I try I either bend the needle or break it off. Just looking for some advice as to how to grease these.

Sounds like the hole you are talking about should have a grease fitting in it. I have never heard of using a needle and whatever crooked shop installed u-joints without grease fittings should be put out of business.

Yeah, sounds to me like your missing the zerk that screws into the hole. Its a small peice that threads right in and you stick the needle into that. I'd call the shop and ask them what they did with it.

Thanks for the info. Now the hole i was referring to is on the endcap of the joint. If i put a fitting there it won't hit anything important will it?

Ok from what you are describing it sounds like you might have got some of those AutoZone U-joints that are sealed. I think you should go back to the shop that installed them and demand that they install u joints that are greaseable. The hole for the grease fitting on most u joints is in the body of the joint itself so I doubt the location you are talking about is the correct one.
