Detroit Tru-Trac

I occasionally get into some rough stuff, but mostly it's snow/ice, mud or sand. I don't get to climb rocks or anything so I don't really get a wheel up too often.

The Auburn would also do well in these situations and the torque bias is much higher with the Auburn (than the Tru-trac) unit meaning it will more equally dispurse your torque. The other appealing thing about the Auburn is that they are generally $100.00 cheaper than a Tru-trac. Yes it will wear out eventually (where the Tru-trac will not), but not anywhere near as fast as a stock "Trac-lock". Your tastes will most likely change before you will wear out an Auburn and you will either have a new vehicle or lockers by then.
I wish there was a selectable locker option for the 9.25, because that would be the way to go......maybe some day! Until that day, in short, you cannot go wrong with either a Tru-trac or an Auburn IMHO.
He's right me and my buddies do a lot ot our rides and what not but he's puttin 4:10s into his thunderbird and he isn't even going to mess around with that.

Gears can be very tricky. My friend just tried to swap in some free 3.55s he got into his Jeep. Got them in and they wouldn't turn for anything. Tried shimming it and played around with it for a day. Ended putting the old ones back in[&:]

One of the main reasons I went with the TruTrac is for towing. They did not recommend a locker for towing applications.
Most I talked to said the factory LSD from Chrysler would not hold up with the large tires. I saw them on Ebay too. Figured if I was going to spend the money to change the stuff out, do it once.

The only clutched LSD I would buy is an Auburn posi.
But I would go with a clutchless (helical geared prefered) LSD.
But If you dont tow anything that much a full Detroit is the best option possible. Tried and proven

it doesnt sound like you tow anything. even if you di once in a while get the full Detroit. it functions the same as other LSD except that when torque is applied to the pinion the wheels are locked 100%.
All you have to do is put the ring gear and tone ring on the detroit (same with the other diffs you're looking at) and bolt it in. Check the backlash and be done with it.
Once you go full Detroit You'll never go back
