Oil Galley plugs? 5.9L magnum
Hey your looking in the right spot there. What I need to know is, right behind that camshaft thrust plate that bolts to the block to hold the cam in, there is 2 oil gallies that feed the lifters, in sbc and sbf applications those have to have cup plugs driven in to keep the oil from dumping out the end and loosing all oil pressure. On the dodge it looks like the cam thrust plate will block the holes and let a little oil dump out onto the chain on the drivers side. The problem is I thought I drove plugs out of those holes by putting a long rod through the oil galley and hammering them out, but I can't remember. The plug kit came with two 19/32 cup plugs and those are the only place I can think to put them, so now i'm not sure if there's supposed to be plugs in there or not. The 19/32 plugs seem to big for the galley, but it's the only place I can think of them going. Or maybe they are for a different engine as this plug kit is supposed to fit all small block mopar engines. I just need to be sure so I dont' have to pull it all apart again. Thanks.
Steve that was not it either, it's right behind that triange shaped plate in the block, but no worries. I got ahold of krc performance and they told me that they need to be plugged. I have it all figured out and together. Thanks for your help. Also I did learn some more from those pages though. I went out and checked for the oil plug in the passage in the back of the block and it was there. Thanks for your help. Brandon.
