"Driving lights" as back-up lights?
Sorry shott, but I cannot resist hammering you.[sm=icon_beat.gif] Look closely at the L shaped line where it says not neccessary. It references the light, not the ground that is shown.....[sm=laughat.gif]

as a correction to that diagram.. if you want an idicator lamp and want it to work .. you do need to ground it.

wow serisously... i just did the thing this afternoon. i just wired it up to a toggle switch. much easier and then i have control. One thing that i did do differently is i got a three position toggle. that way i can turn them on if i want to or have them go on with the back up lights. pretty smart eh?
now i just need to find a ground in the back of the truck. apparently mud, chrome, rust and whatever else doesn't like to conduct electricity. go figure huh?
oh and i didn't use a relay, just a fuse.

On (at own use)
Off (daytime)
Reverse Only
i like that actually.
wiring any type of Aftermarket light, you'd want to set them up with their own wiring right from the primary or secondary battery., having a toggleswitch, allows you to control the lights how you want them. 12gu is usually all you need, and a 25amp fuse would be better for the wattage. The 3way switch, i would consider, but I just prefer 2toggle, if i could find a decent flat pressureswitch, i'd do that for interior asethics. Having your lights wired directly into the reverse lights without a toggle, you're going to use them more often than you actually require. Who needs brights in the daylight?

I'm guessing here but...
One position pulls power directly from the battery (can turn lights on at ANY time)
Center position = off
Third position pulls power from the hot wire going to the existing back up lights (so lights come on when lever is put in reverse)
Am I right, Crazy1?
