Truck was flexing hard, did it break anything?
i just got back from taking it on the trails, and i was crossing a pretty trickey spot , the truck was flexing to the point where it was teeter tottering on the driverleft front and passenger rearright and then i was hearing a really loud grinding noise. transfer case? trans? rear end? i had it 4 lo , and only heard the noise till i crossed the spot (few sec) when driving home it seemed all good and no worries, what could i check ? i hope i didnt hurt anything , whats the worst that couldve happened? thank you just kinda got me worried a sec
Probably didn't hurt anything, but you'll need to be more specific from where the noise came from. At best all you'll have is conjecture. Internet diagnoses is dicey at best if its a general issue.
atleast you werent like jessi and ian on extreme 4X4 .. dumped hundreds and thousands into a rangi,, and to have a hiem break on the front DS and droped the axle right out of it.. lol
like ddog said. you prolly didnt break anything but it really wouldnt hurt to crawl under there and inspect everything closley to make sure.
hell.. it could have been just rubbing on a spot that you havnt noticed or didnt know about since you flexed alot..

i know when a tire rubs , but this sounded like metal to metal gears binding up hard underneath me, would i notice right off the bat if a broke a toothe (tooth my backspace button isnt working lol) or is this something im only going to notice on a tear down? i duuno thanks for the reinsurance guys,
Well, again, more speculation. I doubt you broke a tooth. After thinking about it, here's a couple pieces of conjecture.
A. you pinched a brake line and/ or set off an ABS sensor due to the angle of the rear end.
B. You bound up a drive shaft so tightly you broke a U-joint cap, or at lthe least, crushed some needle bearings in one. You should have noticed that during regular driving by now.
C. Your clutches in your rear LSD were trying to engage. With one tire off the ground, your LSD doesn't work (isnt designed to) but in its nature, it will try.
D. (I like this explaination the best
) Since you stated you had your truck doing the the two wheel dance on this obstacle, remember you MAY have had a lot of components stretched to thier limits, and others compressed the same way. Imagine your own body being stretched like a rubber band, then snapped back into place so fast you compressed. Bet you'd make some noise too! At my age, I sure do! Ssoooo... Make sure your bump stops are actually keeping your springs from backbending. They can make a racket when they are forced to do that!
What I'd suggest, honestly, is having a bud drive over the same terrain slowly, and you watch under the truck at a safe distance. Watch for binding and pinching of components. Let the truck set at the balancing point and pay careful attention to anythning over extended (stretched), or over compressed. Listen as the truck slowly drives through and if the noise occurs try to pinpoint it. Sorry to say, but thats how I do it!

hey thanks , i appreciate it alot, i dont want to stress about this to much , so i guess what another member said"if it breaks ill just fix it", or if your not breaking something your not wheeling right, lol , later guys once again thanks for the info as always,

lol yea you should be find. me on the otherhand was not so lucky today. went rock crawling up the side of a hill. dented the driver side running board up against the truck and broke the front drive shaft u joint out of it. my Posi lock also jammed for some reason so i had to drive home with a vibrator for a truck.
hey sochas good pic of wheeling , i had the ole wifey with me at the time and this trail was so steep going down she actually ask said," sorry honey i have to get out and walk down" she didnt feel safe , but it was"nt that bad lol, last time i take the ole wifey up in the hills, lol, she actually walked down the hill, i stopped in the middle of the hill, and looked back at her said " come on it isnt that bad, lol, not picking on the wifey, but kinda funny if you ask me, lol, on the wifes behalf , it was kinda steep, good times!!
