Ive been trying to get rid of this very loud and annoying rattle at certain rpms for quite some time now. i had previously checked the heat shields over the motor mounts and they seemed fine. i checked today and they seem pretty loose. im wondering if it is ok to just rip them off? i dont really see it getting hot enough to cause a problem but i just wanted to make sure.

oh, and just in case that isnt the problem, anyone whos fixed a sheet metal sounding rattle let me know what was causing it so i can check that also.

mine to the same thing.. and the basically keep heat away from the rubber motor mouts so they dont start getting soft and meltish.. (if thats a word) i ripped mine off.. rattle was gone and the motor mounts have been fine since.. i just sawed them off with a cuttingwheel on a angle grinder and a sawzall

 

ill be ripping them off asap them.

 

My neighbor had the plastic cover to the PCM get loose and rattle. Drove him nuts till we found it.
