im went to the part store to get tail shaft seal and the one they give me is way to small than the one that came off it i have a 97 ram 2500 4x4 i cant find the part anywere they all keep giving me the same part # its like the previouse owner changed the tailo shaft housing or something put a larger one on it

 

You didn't say if your different parts stores included the Mopar store at your local dealership. Take the numbers of the trans case, and I'm sure they'll get you the right one. I work part time at AutoZone and have had the same issue with seals that you do, but the dealer got it right the first time and it was only a couple more bucks than it would be from the Zone. If you haven't destroyed the seal you can pull the numbers off of it and go through the seal and baering interchange and get the right one that way as well. Have you tried the year before or after, depending on when the truck was built it could have had left over parts or new parts. I have an early 98 so it still uses a 97 firing order. Let me tell you that was fun trying to figure that out. Good Luck

looks nice man, whats the specs. on it? ive had problems with even the dealers finding me the right part. damn 2 different dodge dealers couldnt find the stupid C clip that holds the output shaft on the T case in place.
