Default Truck won't start, help!!!

Ok ya'll, bear with me...this is the situation:
Yesterday afternoon on my way back from class, my stereo in the truck wasn't working. My head unit powered up, cycled from CD to radio and functioned, however there was absolutely no noise from the speakers. I figured it was my amp power, and I was correct. The connection at the battery post had wriggled out of the connecter. Popped it back in, no problem, everything works, so I go in and watch TV. About 5 hours later I came out, fired the truck, it turned over RPMS reved to around 1000 as usual, and then dropped straight to the floor. Every time I try to crank after that, all I get is clicking from under the hood. My battery is good, as when i turn the key to electronics my lights work fine (aren't dim) the stereo cranks, gauges come on, even interior lights work fine. I shorted out the starter with a screwdriver to make sure it was getting power, and it was. However there is no attempt whatsoever for the motor to even try and crank, to turning over, no chugging, no nothing. Just what sounds like loud clicking under the hood.

Any suggestions? My next thought is to pull the starter today and take it to the shop to see if it's bad. What does my problem sound like?

Sounds like the starter is stuck. Get a friend to turn the key and you tap the starter with a hammer.

I had somewhat the same problem....but it was a bad connection between the starter and the battery. I took the starter off and had it tested and it worked fine so when I put it all back together it worked again....I replaced the wire between the battery and the starter and have not had a problem since (2 years larter). Hope this helps.
