Default Best place for Accessory switches in cab?

I recently added two Hella work lights to the rear of my 99 QC SB 4x4, with V-10 and AT. I've got the wiring and relays installed, but I'm stuck on where the best place would be to mount a rocker switch in the cab. The Hellas will be used as both backup lights and general illumination for camping or a trailer.

I've considered the plastic box underneath the cupholder, but it's awkward to reach from the driver's seat. I'd prefer a location under or alongside the steering wheel, but I can't tell if there is enough room behind the plastic panel to accomodate the depth of even a mini-rocker switch.

I'd like to do a real professional looking job of installing at least two illuminated switches to handle rear backup lights and a set of front off-road driving beams. Do you guys have any photos or tips you could share?

Thanks!

This is a stretch, and it means running extra wire, but could you mount them up where the dome light switches and garage opener are? You could reach up there like you're turning on the dome light.

I mounted my aftermarket fog light switch on the main panel that is under the steering column, next to my ash tray (see pics). It is pretty handy there I think, not to hard to reach. Also, search for posts by zeekxxx. He did lots of stuff to his truck, and found places to put switches I would have never thought of.

I mounted a couple of mini rockers on the left side of the steering wheel in the panel that is under the steering wheel. i put them up towards the top of the panel. when I took the panel off there was plenty of room and they are close enough to use without moving too much.

Just an option, but pull the plastic windshield pilalr off and see about mounting the switches in the pillar. I installed a 3 gauge pillar pod there and it now it seems like a natural place to install the smaller rocker style switches.

Thanks for the suggestions - especially the pictures!

I had removed the panel below the steering wheel, and for some reason thought the the switch wouldn't clear - I'm definitely going to have to pull it off again and look closer.

I'll post pictures if I come up with something unique, but I'll bet I wind up putting them pretty much where you guys did - they look like a clean install, minimum hassle, and easy access.

Thanks for the help!

i have two toggle swtches for my Neons and Dixie Horn right at my left leg, on the accesory removable panel, there is foam in the middle of it behind it, but to the driver's door side, there is space with no foam, where you can install swtiches.
