Default Little patch of rust

Is there anything I could do to stop an area of rust from getting bigger? I just noticed it the other day but by the looks of it it must have been like that since I bought it. Its already flaking and a piece has chipped off. I don't think there would be anything I could do as a spot fix, but what do you guys think? Sorry, I don't have a pic at the moment of it but heres the area, its at like the very bottom of the passenger door, but above the thin stripe of metal that goes along the buttom of the whole truck.

yeah, common with these Ram's. there are no drain holes on the bottom side of the doors.(very ****-pour design)I just fixed both front door on my truck this summer. had to take both doors off, sand blast the rust, cut out the bad spots and weld in new metal. PS.I drilled some new drain holes on the bottom of each door.

I fixed mine when some idiot didn't know how to turn in the snow. I was lucky that he got the door that was rusted. now if someone would get the rear wheel well.

Mine just started. I'm gonna use Por-15 on it to seal it then in the spring I'm gonna use Durabak along the bottom for chip gaurd since it's already two tone.

Poor mans fix is to spray it with WD-40. That can actually keep small areas of rust from spreading if it is not already underneath the paint too bad. It will get you by until you can get it fixed. Requires repeated application too as it drys out.
