trans temp
oil temp
Isn't oil temp one of the gauges already in the dash, or is that oil pressure?

Well, there is an oil pressure gauge, and an engine temp gauge. The engine temp gauge is really coolant temp more then anything else. I was thinking more of oil temp as measured from the pan. Or, if you have a remote filter, off one of those lines.

If you off-road a lot or tow a lot, I think it would be worth doing a gauge to a sending unit in your differntials. Mag-Hytec makes a nice extra capacity diff cover that has a port for a sending unit.

My 01 has oil pressure in the dash. In my 3 gauge pillar pod I included Oil Temp, Trans Temp, and Rear Differential Temp. I pull a fifth wheel so the rear differential temp is useful.

You can mount the oil temp in the same location as the oil pressure ( to the back left of the distributor ). I purchased brass fittings and made a sort of square "Y" connector. The oil pressure sending unit mounted on one side and the oil temperature sending unit on the other.

That is oil pressure in the dash. I know for a diesel you will want an exhaust gas temperature gauge too. Probably a boost gauge also, I think DieselDemons set-up of gauges is what I would have, if I had a diesel. For both gas and diesel a trans temp gauge is a good idea, I'll probably be getting one soon and I'd like to get the same mount that Silver_Dodge has.

Exactly what I wanted to know, I just didn't want to pester you about it.

As far as hooking up the gauge, I think there is a deep transmission pan that has the bung already welded in. So really you just screw in the sensor and hook up your wires. I think I will wait until the summer to do all this to mine, we have a transmissions class here at school so what better time. If the tranny is still holding up I think I'll install a shift kit, the temp gauge and that deep pan. I guess if it isn't holding up, what better time to rebuild it right?

My trans temp gauge is also an Autometer gauge, and it is (at present) hooked to sending unit that is in the diag port on the side of the trans. I have another trans temp sending unit in the transpan that will also be connected to my gauge very soon.

Do a search on "trans temp" or "trans cooler", there are lots of post (many from me) on setting up a trans temp gauge and a trans coolers.

Here's one that I'm currently looking at but unfortunately it doesn't show the dimensions. I was thinking about mounting it either above the cup holder in that hole or alongside of the 4wd shifter.

My setup now ...
