Hey everyone, This is my first time posting....but I've been reading alot of stuff for a while now....Awesome Site BTW!
Aright, Here's my problem....I changed my water pump on my 95 Ram (5.2L), put everything back together....and now the truck won't start!!! Makes no sense at all to me! I checked for spark...nothing...and there seems to be no power going to the coil. What can I check now??? Please some one help me!

Thanks alot guys!

Check to see if you have injector pulse, (I think more than three seconds) if no inj, then I would look to the crank sensor circuit. Since you were just into the water pump, double check everything up front, make sure you don't have a broken wire to the coil or something simple that you might have bumped.

Also I see you said it seems there is no power to the coil, is there really no power to the coil or is the coil dead?

Also double check the fuses.

Thats the easy stuff to do first.

Had the same trouble on a 2000 van, it was the crank sensor. No spark and injectors only fired for a few revolutions.

Just some thoughts.

Double check the electrical connection from the coil to the wiring harness. You can find it by grabbing the electrical wires coming from the coil and following them. Should only be about a foot. Changing the water pump iot is very possible you separated this connection as it is really near the water pump. If it is together pull it apart and check the connectors to be sure nothing was bent out of shape.

Ny truck was running real poor until I found that my connection was loose. If yours is loose and won't snap together use a plastic wire tie to hold it after you squeeze it together.

Good Luck.

Hey thanks alot guys....I think the Timing Chain snapped.....seems to be turning too fast compare to before....would this make sense at all?? if the cam doesn't turn no spark will be sent to Ignition coil right??? I'm not the best of mechanics so I'm trying to figure this all out myself so it don't cost me too much $$$....cause I don't necessarily have all the cash possible available to me!! Thanks alot

holy crap.. never heard of them snapping before.. and if it did youd have some nasty grinding going on since there isnt a whole lot of room for a busted chain to fall out of the way of a spinning crank gear.. what do you mean its spinning really fast? confusing a bit.. have you ruled out the coil/wiring??? meaning have you checked the coil power harness? i mean using an actual test light or meter and/or changing the coil??? best way to see if your timing chain busted is to pull a valve cover and see if the rockers or going up and down when you crank it....

and if the t-chain did granade.. pics would be interesting

Well...it took me a while to get at looking at my truck since all youg guys posted.....been pretty busy...but anyways...believe it or not it's got nothing to do with the Electrical at all......the Timing Chain broke.....I found out by taking the cap off the distributor...and the rotor doesn't turn when cranking....sooooo obviously nothing else then timing chain.....and Now......the fun starts...I don't want to do that...crap!!!

What a coincidence heh???

But thanks alot everyone for trying to help out....See you's soon I'm sure!
