the vent tube is connected to the filler tube, you do mean the evap hose... ??

https://dodgeforum.com/upfiles/2745/...B5C39188AB.jpg

so it sat all day and it's pushing its way out the evap line still... how hot was it there and how much fuel is in the tank? the only thing I can think of is the solenoid we were talking about earlier.... test it and see if its working right.
The line that goes to the Evap Purge Solenoid was the one spouting gas. I did not drive the truck. It was in the upper-70's today.
When I pulled the flex line off of the hard line, when I originally dropped the tank, it was not clamped in any way, shape or form. It was merely slid in place over the hard line. Is it supposed to be clamped in place?

it's got to be something in the pump... I think you need to find someone who's got a truck thats around your truck year and have them help with visuals and confirm the clamp.

on my truck it was sealed thru the clamp on the end of it when it attatched to the op of the pump. if you look at the pics in the diy writeup yu can see how it was connected to the pump. I say clamp it & seal it. I think that since it was sitting all day that it was having heat expansion in the tank. forcing the fuel out whatever it can go thru. I dont know how it handles it normally so that question needs an answer.

the fact that it wasnt run all day tells me that it has to be the expanding gas with no where to go.

clamp it then. expansion would only apply to a full tank.

OK, Steve. I am going to check out a few things today. I realized something last night as I was thumbing though the Haynes manual a friend gave me last night in that the Haynes I have goes up to 1996 and my truck is a 1997. One thing that perplexes me is that I do not have an EGR valve on my truck. I studied the drawings in the manual and compared them to my setup, but I don't have one. Is the EGR only for those trucks that are outfitted with an air-pump?

I am also going to do some checking with the Evap Purge Solenoid and the Vapor Canister.

Good to know. I didn't think so, but was otherwise perplexed.

Not yet. I am going to look for a different hose to run from the vent on top of the fuel pump to the charcoal canister. I am also going to take my truck to a muffler shop for a diagnosis on the Cat Converter. I did look at a 1997 Chilton's Dodge Ram repair manual (total piece of ****) and the fuel pump pictured in the manual looked exactly like mine.
