Default instructions on how to replace vehicle speed sensor?

I am getting a 95 ram 1500 today or tomorrow, and it needs to have the vehicle speed sensor replaced. The dealership told me that there are two sensors, one on the rear end and one on the transmission. I can do this no problem, but I need a write up or something that shows me where the sensors are and what to do. Is there anything out there for replacing both sensors on a 95 1500?

Thanks

In a 95 is there only one Speed sensor, because my research on wholesalemopar only comes up with one sensor for $75, instead of two for 35 and 15. Is there another one I need to look for in addition to the one for $75.

So is there one or two speed sensors on a 95?

It is probably the one in the rear differential then. I have never changed mine before though. I had to change the one in my transmission but my truck is a 99. By looking at wholesale mopar I would say it is the one in the diff. I dont think it would be too hard of a job though. I would also assume that the 94-95 use just one sensor.

I guess I will just have to get the sensor and see if there is a similar one on the diff or on the tranny. We will see. Thanks man.

if your rear diff sensor is gone then your speedo will act funny and your abs & brake lights will come on. that sensor takes about 10~15 minutes to swap out depending on how many beer breaks you take.

Actually the speedo dosnt work at all, I mean it dosnt move one bit. I havnt ran the dash test, which might be a good idea to see if the speedo is still functional. No ABS light, just the CEL throwing a code 15.

Should I try the dash self test?

ahahahaha,,, gary, i'd expect you'd have one of those dual can holder hats with the tubes coming down.

frey, does your truck have abs? if you can, i'd swap the rear diff sensor anyway, they are a common failure and will kill your speedo and possibly may contribute to your other problem. if the pcm doesnt know your speed, it will do funny things for sure.

IIRC its union by-law.. dodge ram gear heads ,, local 360... that each mechanic is entitled to one beer break for every nut/bolt/cable/or part uninstalled or reinstalled.. ill contact the rep for confirmation..

if your a new dodge ram owner.. i would STRONGLY suggest in investing in a hanyes or chiltons for your year.. priceless tool..and if anyone has the link to steves xmass gift last year.. theres a dl'able version for an 00-01 in PDF format that will come in usefull since alot of the information is interchangable....

You forgot that all jobs must begin with a beer before starting any work.

The downloadable manual is in the "SEC. GEN RAM INFORMATION" thread at the top of the forum.
