Default Need opinions from the pros

OK guys, I'm going to be replacing my timing chain and water pump, complete tune up, etc. soon. I will also be fixing the leaking plenum with the hughes kit. I have finally gotten all the parts together but need some advise concerning the intake mod. After installing the Fastman TB I love the way truck runs. I will also be putting on my headers and although I already have true dual exhaust will be re-doing the exhaust so that it doesn't dump under the cab anymore. My question is, if I do the intake mod will it adversely affect my ability to tow my 16' trailer with 3 heavy 4 wheelers on it? Trailer and 4 wheelers weigh about 4000lbs together. I only tow this combo a few time per year. Most of the time I'm running empty, but this is my only tow vehicle. I will be doing this work in a few weeks and really wanted to get everyones thoughts on this. Has anyone done this mod and then used the truck for towing? Any problems? All the threads I've read on this subject, it seems like a great mod, but I didn't find any that specifically talked about towing after the mod was done. Facts and opinions are both welcome. Since this is my only tow vehicle and I would not be able to buy a new intake anytime soon, I really want to make the right decision up front. Thanks. Jeff.

If done right, the intake mod shouldnt bother your low end torque, but also help open up the top end more.......JMO

What size Fastman do u have?

typically longer runners=tq lower in the RPM band.

if you shortened them by .75" it should shift it up to high to be noticable. If it was me, I'd just clean up the casting marks on the runners, and the TB mounts and leave the rest alone.

shortening the runners is something you would do for Higher RPM HP.

agreed, it helped out the top end and was an awesome mod. I never towed with it like that but I can imagine it would have been fine. while doing 70, it would pull really good when I layed into it. slap 4000 lbs back there and it should still pull better than w/o the mods.

also one thing to add there is I had the 1.7 crowers.

I paid about $300 for my Harland Sharp 1.7's. They are great, well worth the $$$.
