...... OK, I'm getting ready to dig into my motor to look for my lost plastic cleaner straw (been awhile gettin to it, wth gas was too high to drive it anyway). Gonna be doing the plenum plate thingy (Hughes) and figured at 84K might as well do the timing set as well while I'm in there however .................. figured I'd put a new thermostat in there as another "might as well" and I'm holding a 195 in one hand and a 180 in the other. Looking for the definitive answer as to which to use. Yeahyeahyeah I did the search and read it all but there wasn't any "this is better, case closed". I don't want to do be building any homeless shelters under my hood in winter or doing custom ventiliation on the rad so since thinking makes my head hurt how about I let someone else hurt his head for me? Peace, OUT!

Go ahead and use the 180 t-stat, it works very well with our Magnum motors. It will lower the engine temps and as we all know, a cool engine is a happy engine. Also I don't know whether you having a pinging problem or not but the 180 will also help to combat pinging. The only downside I can think of for a 180 is that your heater performance may suffer. Mine never does get that warm and it was worse after I installed my 180, but I am pretty sure there is something else going on there and I haven't had time to look into it.

my .02, i just put a 180 thermo in and this weekend im gonna put a 195 back in...reason being is that my heater isnt working like it used to...it blows warm air now with the 180..with the 195 it blew hot...

the 180 has given my truck noticable performance increase

You're up in the cold shott, does the new stat affect your heat temp?

And I've been curious for a good while but I just gotta ask: Tani is a guy and he thinks girls are icky?

Oh yeah, anything else I oughtta do or look for while this thing is broke out?

i dont know whats goin on with that quote, but notice this: in Shotts signature, in teh quote, 'original' is spelled wrong.

just something to note, it might be a misquote
