Im still working on the plenum but once I get all that back together I'll decide wether or not to do the pan gasket. There wasnt very much oil in the pan so Im thinking that maybe that wasn't where my leak was from.

I have been leaking about a quart.

In my opinion if you are going to do the pan gasket you might as well go ahead and do the timing chain front seal and rear seal. On the 4x4 you have to lift the engine a few inches but not a whole lot to get the pan out. I would also suggest a new pump and also a new screen. I did all this a few months back and realy taking my time I did it all over 2 days, but I beleive if you were steady hard at it you could probubly do it in a day.

he already has a new front seal from last spring. he did a timing chain swap already and did it then. IIRC, the pan gasket got damaged during the TC install.

Finished the plenum. Truck seems to be running fine.

I decided not to do the pan gasket yet but I am going to do it very soon. I also think Im going to get a new oil pump in at the same time.

Thanks for all the help!

Quick question. I couldnt remember where to vacumm lines go. For the egr and the brake booster, which one goes on top? Thanks

I also have a 97 4x4 and I removed the pan easily without jacking up the motor. Remove the starter, dust shield for the tranny and one of the engines braces. The oil pan drops out at an angle with ease.
