your right,,, that noise CAN be control arm bushings, but also can be ball joints, hubs, front axle u joints, body mounts coming loose, or even shock mount bushings

I've had bad shocks do that on me before, however with the bushing dry rotted like that, chances are they are a problem. once it's all done, your front end will feel awesome.

i had the same clunk on my chereokee. it was the trac bar not the control arms. and before someone try's to kill me, the front suspension design on the ram and xj are the same. just one is bigger than the other.

The non welded lobe is weak. It is the first component to fail. It makes is difficult to set caster because only one lobe is pushing against the control arm.


And be on the lookout!........ MAYFAIR IS BACK!!!!!!! Looks like he got too much sun though!

I have the same clunk under my feet and my mechanic had the truck for 2 weeks doing all 4 ball joins, steering box, and a wheel bearing. During the 2 weeks he looked for that clunk and determined it was the suspension arms (4x4). You can't move the arms with the truck on or off the ground, but is is positive its form the left side arms. You can get the parts at http://www.newdodgeparts.com.
