I use Mobil 1 10W30 synthetic, and love it.

Once I get about 1,000 miles on it, I am going to switch to synthetic 15W30 for 7500 mile oil changes. I do a lot of highway driving and am going to use my truck for hauling as well, so a longer duration between oil changes helps.
With all due respect to a fellow member of the forum......7500 MILES BETWEEN CHANGES????? I know that the manufacturer recommendations are somewhere around there, and that the oil companies say their stuff will go that long or longer, but I have a hard time believing that ANY oil will be good enough to maintain the integrity of your engine at that length.
If you drive 7500 miles in a couple months on the highway - maybe. The problem is that even though the oil itself may not "break down", it still carries all the dirt in it that manages to get into the engine through the air filter, and it still gets water in it from the normal condensation produced by the engine heating and cooling cycles.
I change mine every 3000 miles - even with the synthetic - and the truck runs better after the change. I figure that the $24 I spend every couple months is cheap insurance.......

Maybe so. Perhaps a filter change every 3,000 and the fluid change at 7,500. I've read a lot of articles where the viscosity doesn't break down for quite some time, and can be prolonged provided that the filter is changed regularly. So, I don't see a problem with 7,500 between fluid changes. The filter is the key.

You might be OK with doing that in that new motor. I would definitely look at the oil the first time you change the filter and see how it looks. I know mine is pretty bad at 3000. There is a lot of construction in this area - maybe I just suck in more dust than some people in other areas.......
I also use Fram filters - kind of a conveinience thing because that is just about all the stores around here carry. Maybe I should try something different if I can find one.

What do you think of using Shell Rotella 15w-40? I've heard it works good in diesel and motorcycle engines? Does anyone know how well it works in these gas engines. What kind of oil filters do you use? I have been using fram, but someone told me that the supertech brand walmart makes is actually better so I am trying that in my car.
