Default Is your weather stripping for the hood falling off?

Ok so i know this is probably a very common question but what the hell is up with the weather stripping under the hood right up by the windshield glass? mine has been falling off for, well since i got the truck. so if you know some good way to fix it share it and let us poor people that have failing weatherstripping hood sealing things know.

ok so i do know how to fix it, with some adhesive, but it was more just curious to see if it was a common problem or not.

Get new stripping to put up there...If yours keeps falling off, then the retaining junk in the mounting part is messed up...Get new stripping and install it, problem solved.

I just keep using adhesive to keep it stuck there. For some reason it still comes loose even after gluing it. I'm gonna try some different stuff.....

Very simple fix. All I did was throw it away.

Threw it away? [sm=badidea.gif]
You'll be throwing engine components away next. You'll have bugs, leaves and water sneaking in to your engine compartnment. I actually had a hornet nest on my alternator. Still don't have mine totally clean yet. I just used some silicon based goop from the auto store. Seems to work because the molding has a nice groove in it. I was very liberal with the stuff since it can't be seen unless you're looking for it.

That groove you refered to is metal reinforced as to form retaining clips that keeps it up there. If it isn't staying up, it means those clips have been destroyed and the only way that it will stay the way it is supposed to is to repalce it.

There are no clips, what they're talking about is the foam/weatherstrip on the back of the hood. Its just a foar peice that is suppose to be glued to some plastic.

you need to add another poll option,
"yes, but fixed"

i used permatex clear silicone adhesive sealant. its waterproof, and flexible. I had redone mine in april, and since then it hasn't budged.

any silicone sealant that is equivalent in qualities should do the trick.
