Default 96 Ram died - no start - now running

Have a 96 Ram 5.9 4x4 130k miles. Started it up the other day got about 1.5 miles from house, truck bucked appeared to die, came back to life, bucked then died completely and then would not start. Thought it was the fuel pump. Took it the dealer for them to look at it. They called today and said initially it didn't start then during the course of diagnosing it the thing now starts and runs fine.

They think it might be a loose connection and possibly the PCM. Does anyone have any thoughts whatsoever or experienced this with their truck?

Thanks,
Mark

fuel pump, crank position sensor, cam sensor pcm... one of the 4... most likely one of the 1st 2. if they check the fuel pressure & volume, it should confirm the pump... the best thing to do is look at it when it's not starting. if the motor is not firing & the fuel pressure is there than it's not the pump.

One thing I forgot to mention is that after it died the electronics seemed to be acting weird. The flashers initially would work properly then they would get real slow and then stop flashing. Headlights, etc. seemed to be ok and it appeared to have plenty of cranking power to turn over the engine. The fact that it is running now and won't die could it have been a battery issue and just required resetting of the computer?

Is it possible a battery on the edge or near death could have caused the problem?
