Out of curiosity, how much work is it to change the front band? Can it be accessed without dissasembling too far into the tranny? I've done clutches, rebuilt engines, etc in my Jeeps but haven't messed around too much with autos.

Also, if I decide not to hassle with it, what range should I expect from a shop? IIRC the bands are pretty cheap so it would probably be mostly labor.

No, haven't taken a good look in the manual yet, just a quick glance. It looks like you need to do some dissasembly in the bellhousing, but I was just wondering if anyone had done it yet.
