Default Steering Problem

I recently replaced the front rotors, calipers and pads as well as U-joints and axel seals on my 2000 Ram 1500 Sport 4x4. I towed my travel trailer to my camp.. When I was backing the TT into position, the steering seemed to bind up and make a grinding noise. Since then, If I am moving the steering wheel while sitting still, it seems to bind(almost like there was no power steering) and a grinding noise is heard. However, when moving, it does not seem to bind. Any ideas what the issue is?

Common problem is the steering gear. It could be the pump try to feather the gas a little and if it gets easier to turn I would look at the pump. If it doesn't then the problem is the gear itself. The pump is about $60 were the gear is about $240.

You might make sure your ps fluid resivior is full, if it is you might try bleeding it. You can do this by leaving the cap off and turning the wheels all the way to the right, then all the way to left several times, then check your level.
