I have a hypertech and a tb on my truck. If you are looking for performance, i would go with the the tb. Both the tb and the hypertech give a good performance boost, but i got more out of the tb than the hypertech. Also, when i installed my hypertech, my truck developed a pinging problem under load. I was able to eliminate it by just changing out my spark plugs to a cooler plug. Since the change, I have not had any problems with pinging.

ripto do you have a code reader? If you don't already have a code reader I'd say go with a hypertech or Superchip programmer since you have a '98 and can't do the ignition on-off-on-off-on trick to read codes. If you already have a code reader or access to one I'd say go with the fastman and then down the road pick up a programmer. You might even decide to go with a Mopar Performance PCM (for a little extra performance) instead if you don't mind paying the extra for premium gas.

I beleive Superchip programmers only program '98+ Rams while Hypertech covers '97+ Rams, which is where it get confusing. The '97's couldn't change the speedo and thus you get the BS about the kelsey hayes abs brake controller. I'm speculating again, but since the Superchip only covers '98+ which seems to allow for speedo adjustment and the Hypertech programmers cover the '97 year which doesn't they cover their asses and bring up the kelsey hayes abs brake controller issue.

I took a look like Ryans590 and couldn't find anything that specifically said kelsey hayes abs brake controller. The hypertech website ( http://www.hypertech-inc.com/dodgefeaturechart.html ) states "98-01 all" at the bottom for the speedo adjustment. I haven't been able to find any other info one way or another. I hoping someone else knows for sure if all the '98's are able to adjust their speedo with a programmer.

*The following applications use the Kelsey-Hayes ABS controller and will also include the Tire Size Adjustment feature: 1998-2001 Ram(all), 1997-2000 Dakota 4X4, 1998-2000 Dakota 4X2,1998-2000 Durango (all). Tire Size feature for Part #50008 is available only for the 2500/3500 models only.
I see the part about the brake controller but then it goes on and says 1998-2001 Ram (all). It says Yes* for the '97 and I believe you can't adjust the speedo with the hypertech in '97on the Ram. You can see the '97 Dakota 4x4 they say you could adjust so that would be why it says yes beside the '97 year.

That was what I had read. I have no idea if there different brake controllers used in the 98's. I was just passing along that their website said 1998-2001 Ram(all).
