Logically yes, but there are other factors involved, including needing less throttle to acheive the same acceleration (actually uses less gas).

I used to keep a pretty detailed log of my mileage. Every tank was charted. It was a definite solid 2 mpg I gained when I did the Fastman, and it was like that on every tank I charted after the install until I started doing other mods. Only other mod I had at the time was an Airaid CAI, which had been on for some time with no real noticable performance or mpg change.

FYI, the best mileage I ever saw through the process of building my truck was 16 mpg. Nowadays, I get about 10-12 city, and 13-14 highway with the mods I have.

Im thinking about doin the 52 fastman TB and either that round air filter or a FIPK I just wanna see how the round performs during summer.

Perhaps headers or catback if I got the money but I doubt it seeing how I have to buy a laptop for college.

If you have the 5.2 you need a 50mm Fastman. If you have the 5.9 you need the 52mm.

Race cars- Cup cars, Busch cars, and Craftsman trucks use cowl induction, or used to anyway. Not sure about the car of tomorrow. That is not a good option on our trucks since the tb is too far back in the motor compartment.
You are right about the cowl induction on the NASCAR cars. I was referring to a UMP Dirt Super Late Model.......
Aluminum engine making over 800hp in a 2400lb car on dirt....
They use a round open aircleaner setup. Only difference between that and the ones we have been putting on our trucks is that due to the dirt and mud we put a filter like panty hose over the outside to "prefilter" the large narly stuff out.......

That's pretty sweet. Open element won't matter as much on a carb. At 800hp what the hell. Put anything on there. Even if a different filter would make 20hp (a stretch), so you run 820 instead of 800... on dirt.

The late model I work on makes 800 hp
Is that what you do for a living? If so, wanna trade jobs

No, unfortunately. I do have a real job. I help this guy (pic below) out any time we are both at the same track. The older I get the more other things I have to do, so I can't make a full time commitment to a team. I can show up and play around on this car about any time I want.

I got 13.3 mpg on my last tank of gas. Best I've ever averaged around home here......

There is not an exact K&N replacement size. The filter that comes with the kit is 12.75"x2.75". K&N makes a 13", which is too big, I know I tried it. And they make a 12.50", which does work, theres some guys running them over on another forum.

12.50" x 2.75" = K&N part # 1530
12.50" x 2.89" = K&N part # 1535
