Default removed and cleaned TB

well today I took off and cleaned the TB and IAC. I've got lots of pics as I was taking pictures of each step just to have it. The TB didn't really seem that dirty, mostly on the exterior of it, not so much in the bores. There was a lot of black gunk in the port where the IAC lives which I cleaned out, also cleaned the tip of the IAC, and replaced the gasket. There was "606" written on the top of the TB, idk what it stood for, but the tb cleaner removed it. I looked down into the plenum also, no pooling of oil, just a light film coating it which is normal right? So, I hooked everything back up and took it around the block, feels like normal, wasn't expecting anything really just felt like doing work on the truck, most likely getting a fastman eventually anyways. here are some pics.

anyone think that little difference in cleaning it will make any difference in driving?

how about the plenum, is that normal for a little coating?

A little coating of oil in the intake is normal. If you find your losing oil and you don't see a leak anywhere then you might want to check it again later. The Mopar Combution Chamber cleaning you did might have cleaned any evidence of a Plenum gasket leak.

wouldn't that have made blue smoke if it was burning oil?

It will smoke blue but the combustion chamber cleaner probably dilluted the oil enough to make it un-noticeable and judging by how much smoke you had, I doubt you would have noticed much blue, if it was there. A motor that is burning oil pretty bad will exhibit a blue smoke, but im my experience it is usually pretty bad before you can really notice it.

Well in that case I will have to check it again in a couple of weeks, maybe I'll be getting a fastman around christmas so that will be a good enough time to check.

nice, I'd like to see a video.

About my IAC, was that black stuff supposed to be in that hole where it goes to act as a lube or something, or was it good that I took it out and made the tip of the IAC shiny? (more shiny than it was at least).

no both valve tip & bore should be clean and free of any gunk. when you looked in the tb did you use a mirror and look in the corners? you might want to next time it's off... I had 1 failure that you couldnt see by looking down the tb bores... it was at one end of the intake.

no I didn't use any mirrors, I'll have to do that next time (hopefully next time is when I'm putting on a fastman )
