also where should i mount the relay? and im using that liquid tape stuff, should i mount the relay and the inline fuse under the dash area to keep it out of the weather? or can i just mount it under the hood and put that liquid tape over the connections on the relay after i have everthing hooked up, sorry for all the Q'S but im just trying to finish this up tonight, thank you

The quickest fuse to tap is the cigarette light fuse in the fuse box by the drivers's side door. That will give you power when the key is turned to ON. However if you want power only when the truck is in reverse I'd pull power from the reverse lights at the rear of the truck inside the light fixture. Instead of the cigarette light fuse you could tap into the parking light wire also at the rear fixture. But, since I don't really know when or how you plan to use the power I'm not sure which is best. Your question does not explain what you are really trying to do with the power and when you need it.

If it were me, I'd pull the power for the lights from the positive battery terminal with a fuse within 12" of the battery. I would trigger the relay with power from the backup lights at the rear fixture. I would install the relay in the fixture. A butt connecter and liquid tape is fine for the connections unless you prefer soldering and liquid tape. I run my wires along the frame on the inside and cover all wires outside the frame with wire loom and wire ties to keep them where I put them.

I sure hope this helps.

if you want them powered when you put the truck in reverse you dont half to go to the back, that wire comes along the drivers side frame rail then up into the fender if tou follow it you will see where it comes into the engin compartmend by the junction box its a vilot wire, cant rember if it has a tracer thow but its the only vilot wire comming along the frame i wouldent go right to the back ive seen a lot of wires broken because of conections back there it gets a lot of spray off your tires/road

now that sed i would hook the power wire for your switch to a constant 12 volt source (off the bat) so you can use them whenever regardless if the truck is on or not so if your working back there you can use them to see too...now if your worried about bumping the switch/forgetting them on then hook into an ing source like the cig or blower moter depending on the year and options there may be a spot that isent used that has ing power as well...simple testlight will tell

the relay will be fine in the engin compartment just put it up on the firewill (ive seen some infront of the rad VERY stuped place for them) as long as its fiarley protected youll be fine. oh and pesonally i prefer heat shrink tubeing and solder over liqued tape and conectors but thats just me

here is a wireing diragram...i tend to post this lots lol i should put it in the DIYS section or somtthong lol
