Default NEED HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!!

I have a 97 Ram with a 5.9l .
I went off road with it everything was fine didn't do anything to bad to her mostly water but now the truck will not go over 40.
If I let her sit for a while she's ok for a bit then she startes up again will not shift but will shift manualy sometimes.

Anybody know what I can do before I bring her in .
anything idea's would be great
Thanks
Ray

Man that could be alot of different things. You dont have to wheel it hard to break anything.Maybe a solenoid in the trans got wet.Let it dry out for a day or 2 and see what happens. But if the trans got water in it,Somehow that isnt good either.Definatly have it checked out thouroughly.

possibly, but unlikely, water in tranmission. check dip stick for nice clean pinkish/brown fluid. make sure no white/milky water.

more likely dirt/mud in the electrical connections going to the transmission. there are a couple of them. unclip them and spray with contact cleaner (best), wd40, windex, etc. DONT use brake cleaner it will melt plastic. Carb cleaner might be ok if not too harsh. if it burns your hands its too harsh. also there is a speed sensor connection on top of the rear end chunk. clean it too.
