2000 Ram Hesitation at freeway speeds
Hello all, glad to find a forum with so much knowledge and look forward to contributing (although my first post is a question)...
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Sport 4x4. It has a lift and is sitting on 35x12.5s, has the 5.9 motor with a little over 60K on it.
I bought it about 5 months ago and has been running perfectly, however when driving it a couple of weeks ago I started having a problem. At freeway speeds (between 70-75) the engine would hesitate real bad, the RPMs would drop, and then after a second or so would pick right back up. It didn't happen all the time, just every couple miles. The rest of my drive home and since then I have kept it under 65 with no problems at all.
Also, I noticed yesterday a second problem. The computer is now telling me I am getting 26+ mpg's which I know is impossible. I don't know when this started since I usually don't have the display on the MPGs (I don't need to be reminded of the mileage I am getting) But it did work before and usually read between 10-11.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

tim....i had a similar problem but when mine did it it would of kinda jerked and then picked back up....mine is a 2000 and it was the crankshaft sensor....about 40.00 and a bitch to change but it fixed it....so i would see what these guys think and take it from there!!!!!
no problem just be aware that it is hard to change...lol....it is on the passenger side in the back of the motor and right aboe the transmission housing....u can barely see it...two bolts and two wires to it and good luck
Considering the fun involved in replacing it do you know if this is something that a code reader would pick up? And also if I am only having the problems at freeway speeds (although I am having the MPG diplay problem all the time) would I have to plug in the code reader and take it up to the speeds where I am having the problem for the code reader to catch it?
