Better MPG?
ORIGINAL: VWandDodge
Just remember, if your truck is paid off, then who gives a **** what the price of gas is? I bought my truck in June 2005, after having been without one for a few years. It sucked. It was down from February 2006 until just a few weeks ago. I hauled a bunch of car engines, transmissions, and a body on my 18' trailer from Oklahoma to Alabama. I figured I was getting 12.5mpg. Freaking awesome!
Of course, I mildly modded the engine as well

With the list of mods on my sig and CarDomain page - I get between 12.5 and 13.5 city/highway - no matter how hard or easy I drive it. I carry around about 500 extra pounds of tools and crap all the time because "I might need it", which hurts my mileage a little. I drive roughly 20 miles "city" and 30 miles "highway" every day. Do the things Socha said first, then you can spend money on better mods. My mods did not make a big difference in mileage, but the performance increase was VERY noticeable.
I agree with Socha on another thing also. Don't come on here and suggest that someone "go buy a car" if they want better mileage. None of us bought these trucks thinking we were going to get 20 mpg. There are people here with much knowledge and information on how to get the best mileage you can out of what you have. Lets keep it at that.

mods can help!!! I got my truck to peak at a consistant 14.2~14.6 mpg with heavy mods. 1500 4x4 QC slight lift, 295 tires etc etc etc... my best mileage was 15.8 of straight driving on the hiway.
now... well diesel baby diesel... easily get 15 without trying hard. 17~17.5 on the hiway.
