Default Brakes Help!!!!

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500, i decided to change my own front brakes so i did all the required steps according to my hayne's manual. I then get in my truck to pump the brakes until they are stiff then I turn the ignition on and my brake pedal becomes very loose to the point to stop i have to completely push the pedal down. should i bleed the brakes?

any help would be appricated

Ryan

Which components of the brakes did you change? Did you disconect the brake line?

If you unhooked any brake lines or popped the pistons out of the calipers you will need to bleed them. I make sure not to unhook anything when I change pads - so I don't have to mess with bleeding them......

Like racinfan said, if you disconnected the brake line, you will have to bleed the system. If you popped a caliper piston out, then no one ever told you not to step in the brake pedal if your calipers are hanging.......LOL.

There is also the possibility that a check valve or vacuum hose is loose/bad.

Good luck.
