Hopefully I can explain this correctly, but with more accurate information go to Air Ram's website at www.AIRRAM.com. Also, you can do a search for Power Wire and see what other members have said about this mod. It is essentially a wire that connects to the intake air temperature sensor and tricks the computer to believe that the engine is 20 degrees cooler. This causes the computer to advance the timing and more fuel is added at wot. The best way to describe what type of performance the Power Wire provides is this example: My truck feels a lot stronger and peppier when first started in the morning but that peppiness eventually disappates when the engine warms up. Well, with the Power Wire the peppy response/power stays constant even after the engine warms up. I'm impressed because my truck has responded strongly with this $40 mod, especially at wot. Love the added hp it provides in addition to my other mods. Hope this helps.
it doesn't make the comp think your ENGINE is cooler, it makes it think that the AIR coming in is 20* colder. my guess is that this would work with a throttle body, manifold, cold air intake mod etc. these mods add more air yet the sensor thinks the air is denser. it should give the same effect. i don't see however how it advances the timing.

$40 [&:] You can accomplish the same thing with a $1.50 5 or 10k resistor. As Steveo5ram360 said "put in a 180 degree thermostat.

thinking the air is cooler makes it add gas, making a rich mixture, which kills power....i dont get it.

he also has a fastman... which means more air and more gas. with a msd ignition it would probably kick some serious ***.
its almost like the iat mod from the v8 perfomance website.

Hey guys thanks for the tip about the 180 t-stat. I heard the magnum motor runs well and more efficiently with the 180 than the 195. I'll get the 180 right before next summer just before towing season. Regarding the power wire, I don't truly comprehend how it actually effects the engine mechanically or technically in a positive way, but my truck is more responsive and feels a little stronger after installation combined with my other mods. Just my observation and what I felt regarding this modification. Also, before any modifications which was just 4 months ago, I was getting 10 mpg and now I'm averaging between 11.8-12.0 mpg with current mods according to the overhead console. I'm not sure how accurate it is but go figure. I love the way my truck is performing now. Big difference and it is fun to drive because my truck felt very slow and sluggish when first I purchased it used in July and it was completely stock. Thanks guys.

wow power wire, you get the same effect if you relocate your iat sensor closer the the air cone or filter. you paid 40.00 for a free mod. plus had someone install it. also your computer needs to sence different air temps. this power wire leaves the computer thinking it is only one temp. not realizieing anything the computer thinks the truck is just idleing.

I don't get it your motor advances it's timing when it gets hotter or turning faster . So if it is thinks it's getin cold air wouldn't that cause a prob . I do agree about the thermostat too. Cold air just makes for a better air fuel mixture and a better burn . Because you don't want pre detonation of the mix in the combustion chamber and if it's too hot and the motor is over advanced u'll see unburnt fuel on fire blowin out the exhaust pipes right . So how can this wire do what yall are sayin? [sm=confused06.gif]

I really don't know why the power wire performs the way it does for my truck, but if you do a search for power wire on Dodge Forum you can see what other members are saying about this mod as well as Air Ram. Before I bought this mod, I did quite a bit of research regarding it and I read a lot of positives about the power wire. I also called Air Ram and he did a great job explaining this mod to me. Unfortunately, I'm unable to answer any of your good technical comments or questions about the power wire. Just log into Air Ram's website at www.AIRRAM.com or call his business directly and he will be able to explain how the mod works and what it does. As for me, I think it is a great mod and legit. Also, I believe I got a great deal for the price since my truck performs a lot better combined with my other mods.
