Sounds like a mod that will definitely help with the performance of my truck. Thanks for your knowledgeable advice. I'll be adding that mod to my list to purchase. Do you know roughly how much the MSD Kit runs for and where to buy it from? I greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Maybe I can help clear this up a little bit. The power wire does not make the computer think the engine is 20 degrees cooler. The power wire is similar but not the same thing as the resistor mod. The resistor mod shows the same temp all the time where the power wire reduces the intake air temp the cmputer see's by 20 degrees. Our obd2 engines uses all of the sensor readings to help determine the timing. If the pcm thinks the air intake temp is 20 degrees cooler the timing will be slightly more advanced. This is probubly the main reason for the increase in performance not necesarily the increase in fuel.

this is very true... also you could easily do the same mod yourself with a $1.00 radio shack resistor... all you would need to do is look up the IAT temp table and find out how much of a resistor you would need to put in line with the wire going back to the PCM. then you are offset by that value. if you find 20 deg is too much, adjust the value. you could also put a pot in there to tweek until you find the value you prefer.

here's something to think of. i would like to get someone who has more knowledge than me to help me on it though. If you have mods on your truck, such as a larger throttle body and ported manifold, maybe ported heads etc. then they cause your to run lean correct? well wouldn't things such as the power wire or resistor mod help correct the lean conditions by increasing the fuel ratio?

BTW...you can usually get that desired "20 degree" temp change by relocating the IAT to the air intake or filter body.
Ebay is full of these things, but I'll stick with Hughes performance advice and avoid them, for now.
