Default Replacing brake light switch

Im looking at the brakelight switch, and it seems like i have to take off the plastic cover on the one side, so i can remove the harness/install the harness. it doesnt want to come off on either the old one or the replacement one. is there a trick to get it off, or in installing the new switch?

To release the brake light switch locking tab from its notch in the switch mounting bracket, rotate the switch 30 degrees counterclockwise and pull out the switch. install in reverse.

Because the switch automatically adjust itself on install, removing it screws up the adjustment, and there is no way to reset it. Replacement is the only option.

when you disconnect it there should be an orange tab, push that tab out and remove it and then disconnect from the harness. Put the tab back In once you connect your new switch
