These "mods" worked for me!
This last weekend, I took a core TB, ground off the airhorns, smoothed out the curve in the venturi above the throtle plates, and polished everything so it was smooth.
I replaced the IAC, and installed a new TPS. I will check it's voltage once the ECM has learned the current A/F curve. I also removed and cleaned the IAT.
While it didn't turn the 'ol Clydesale into a tire burning warhorse, it definetly helped! My off line stumble disappeared, and much less effort is needed to move through traffic on I-17. I'm very pleased. I may do a more radical port job on my orginal T/B in the future.
Next mod...a ported and filled intake. Anybody got a "keg" off a 99 up they don't want?

IMO, its never to do too many things at once. who knows what fixed your stumble. it could have been any one or number of those things. Its just like a science experiment, only one variable at a time.

not unless you are trying to win an award for "what was wrong with my truck" As long as it was fixed, it doesnt really matter which part actually did it.

while it was off you should have half shafted the TB.
its an old carb trib.
Flip open the TB butterflies, you'll see they are sandwiched between 2 "bars". It halfshafting you remove the upp bar and leave the tapped bar in place, counter sink the plates and install low profile screws to hold the TB plates on the shaft. On a single TB it can improve flow 5-7% Id imagine on the dual setup itd be closer to 10%
look at the pictures in this link, its essentially what he did except he didnt counter sink the screws

That TB looks like crap. Spend the $250 and get a Fastman work of art. 50mm tapered bore with nice, brass butterflies.

and cover it up with an air cleaner.
brand loyalty is fine, and I am not vouching for that ebay throttle, just using the pictures as an example.
If something is ugly and cheaper but performs the same as something pretty and more expensive, that you are going to cover up anyway....
theres nothing on that ebay throttle body that couldnt be done with a die grinder some wd-40 and about an hour and a half.

Really?... When you have a truck with over 100K on it, certain parts simply wear out. Why add old pieces to a new part? I actually fixed several minor problems at once. I'm very happy with the results.
As far as buying a Fast man T/B, no thanks. I got the same results for about half the price, and and extra T/B to rebuild. The next one will be even better, as I'll do it when I get my shop finished, and can use machine tools. The half shaft mod only adds a few CFM at WOT, not worth the trouble on a street truck.
