Default battery exploded

just purchased a 1995 Dodge 4x4 1500 and found out the battery had exploded in it. It runs but rough, some times. Also backfires through the intake manifold. Diagnostics shows torque converter clutch solenoid but there is no trouble shifting into any gear. Have replaced map sensor and the iac motor. Is there something we are missing?

Usually batteries explode if the charging volatge is too high. The water boils first, then the elctrolytes go next. Only problem is that electrolytes make sulphur gas. You know that rotten egg smell.........lol.

I would check ur ALT output. A bad voltage regulator can burn up a lot of circuits.

Good luck to ya.

For running rough I would check the whole electrical system as DieselDemon said. Also have you done a tune up? That will probably help the rough idle. As for the backfiring I would check the O2 sensors, and maybe the cat is clogged.
